Rhythm and rhyme, utterly sublime~

I have always loved poetry. Simple rhythmic poems that create a picture with words. Like short brightly colored artist brushstrokes I enjoyed writing poetry.

I see on Face Book many young people enjoy expressing themselves in a similar way. I hope they continue to grow and get encouragement to become a truly gifted writer someday. There are wonderful poets to read, study and be inspired by.

The Bible is one of the most beautiful books for literary greatness. Solomon comes to mind in his great, God given wisdom, he shares everything from the Proverbs, with their just plain "good sense" to his deeply passionate love story between he and his wife in Song of Solomon.

But, one of my favorite poets of all time is Robert Frost. This winter we had an unusual weather pattern. We received several steady, heavy snowfalls. Each time I bundled up myself and my little 12lb Lhasa/Shitzu girlfriend, Coco, and we braved the elements in a late night walk.

With the quiet stillness of the streets, the incredible beauty of the snow, we would jump and play all alone in the deserted neighborhood. We would then walk over to the edge of the old road that leads to a wide meadow, lined with tall statuesque evergreens standing guard around the edges, and we would just stand there and "take it all it in."

It leads me to think of this poem by Robert Frost.

Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

- Robert Frost

Lord, you know the length of my days and the miles yet I have to go. Please fill me afresh with your Holy Spirit that I may be empowered to serve You all my days. I love your wonderful creation. Most of all I love You, the Creator. Thank you for all You have done for me Jesus. Amen

Scoffers are "old hat' - God’s Promise Is Not Slack

Last night in a lively LIFE group discussion, I mentioned that according to Scripture, world events, weather extremes and catastrophic happenings, it is highly likely that the Rapture of the church is imminent.
A friend agreed and commented her frustration when attempting to encourage some women in her Bible study the same thing, they mocked her and scoffed at her. I was immediately reminded of the words of the Apostle Peter.

This unbelief is nothing new as you will see as you read on...

God’s Promise Is Not Slack-2 Peter 3

1 Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder), 2 that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us,[a] the apostles of the Lord and Savior, 3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” 5 For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. 7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us,[b] not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

The Day of the Lord

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.[c] 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

Be Steadfast

14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; 15 and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation—as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.
17 You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We ARE one day closer to the Lords return!

Let's be ready. The Apostle Paul explains...

1 Thessalonians 4-The Comfort of Christ’s Coming

13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

My friend then told me the ladies started ANOTHER age old argument.

"Well, if Jesus is coming why plan for college and the future."

AGAIN, Scripture tells us the answers!

The entire Book of 2 Thessalonians was written by Paul addressing this problem of "waiting for the Lords return." Please read it on your own.

Jesus HIMSELF tells us in Luke 17:26-36

And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; 29 but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.
31 “In that day, he who is on the housetop, and his goods are in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field, let him not turn back. 32 Remember Lot’s wife. 33 Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. 34 I tell you, in that night there will be two men in one bed: the one will be taken and the other will be left. 35 Two women will be grinding together: the one will be taken and the other left. 36 Two men will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left.”

Let us be ever more vigilant to reach the lost before we leave.
And don't be left behind~

God bless you all !

Love, Darlene
